Mobile Device Information Security Workshop

Join HITRUST's Mobile Device Working Group and leading mobile device and solution providers for a collaborative discussion
HITRUST's Mobile Device Working Group invites you to listen in as it engages with leading mobile device application, hardware and solution providers on information security issues relating to mobile devices, including use and limitations, application development, controls and assurance.
Organizations integral to ensuring the security of mobile devices or related applications being deployed in the healthcare industry will discuss their offerings, strategies and perspectives to the working group on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Presentations will be given in person to working group members in 30 minute increments throughout the day. The session is being broadcast over the Internet for non-working group members to attend and benefit from the information shared. Non-working group members will be able to submit questions for the presenters via the Internet for consideration by the working group.
Topics for discussion will include the organization's approach and/or perspective on:
- Use and Limitations — Communicating appropriate uses and limitations related to security concerns of mobile devices and related applications
- State of Mobile Devices — Addressing the current state of information security of mobile devices
- Application Development — Addressing mobile device security related issues such as functionality and capabilities, development lifecycle and testing, third party assessments, and vulnerability disclosure and communications approach.
- Controls — Improving the security controls of mobile devices
- Assurance — Improving the integrity and security of mobile device applications
HITRUST believes there are significant benefits to be gained in garnering insights and perspectives on mobile device security and making this information broadly available to the HITRUST community. A key goal of the working group is enhance the effectiveness of mobile device security through the sharing of the industry's issues and challenges. The workshop is part of a larger initiative of the working group to develop recommendations for enhancements to the HITRUST Common Security Framework (CSF) and propose improvements for mobile device use to the industry and provider community.
