Securing eHealth Applications in a Web World

Wednesday, November 18, 2009
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST

As the healthcare industry increases its adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) in support of the HITECH Act, organizations are faced with the task of navigating unchartered territory when it comes to the security and privacy requirements associated with EHR applications.

Join HITRUST and Trend Micro as we discuss the importance of EHR applications for improving patient quality of care and lowering costs and the challenges associated with securing Web-based applications. Confidentiality, integrity and availability are all critical aspects with respect to these systems. Healthcare organizations must ensure that both the systems and the personal health information they contain are protected. In addition, organizations must be cognizant of the regulatory requirements inherent with not only the overall protection of personal health information, but the specific requirements related to the transmission of electronic health information.

Joining HITRUST and Trend Micro will be Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to present a case study of the process they undertook to secure their EHR application.

This webcast is part of the ongoing HITRUST Educational Webcast Series on Information Security in Healthcare.
